A museum housed in a replica of the 1831 courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law. The building contains galleries covering Vermilion County's history, including natural history exhibits, Native American artifacts, coal mining, and displays connected to Lincoln. The museum also maintains the Dr. William Fithian Home, built in 1855 and preserved to show the rooms Lincoln used during visits, including the bedroom where he slept and the balcony from which he gave a campaign speech in 1858. Families can see these connected sites to learn about the county's past and its links to Lincoln and other local figures.
A membership to Vermilion County Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
