About this place
The Tampico Area Historical Society keeps local history and genealogy records for Tampico and nearby Yorktown, Thomas, Hume and Deer Grove, and its building sits just a few doors from the birthplace of President Ronald Reagan. The society itself is run by volunteers and is open only by appointment or by chance, so families are encouraged to call ahead before visiting. The nearby Reagan Birthplace house, at 111-113 Main St, keeps regular hours April through October, and its staff can let visitors into the Historical Society building when they are not leading a tour there. This makes it a good stop for older kids or families interested in local and presidential history rather than a hands-on play space.
