About this placeThis small visitor center in Dayton's Wright-Dunbar historic district serves as the hub for the Aviation Trail, a network of aviation heritage sites tied to the National Park Service. Inside, families can see the Parachute Museum, which grew from the personal collection of David Gold and is considered one of the most extensive private parachute collections in the world, including books, photographs, and artifacts documenting the invention of the freefall parachute at Dayton's McCook Field. Visitors can pick up a passport brochure and map here to guide a self-directed tour of at least eight aviation heritage sites around the Dayton area. Parking is available in a small lot behind the center, reached by turning off Third Street onto Williams Street and then onto Fourth Street.
