Seaside Aquarium

Seaside Aquarium is a small, long-running aquarium right on the Prom in Seaside, Oregon, housed in a building dating back to 1924 and operating as an aquarium since 1937. Kids can get up close to seals and seal pups, watch a Giant Pacific Octopus in an open floor pool, and spot wolf eels, flatfish, sunflower stars, nudibranchs, and other Pacific Northwest sea life in changing tide-pool style displays. A Discovery Center lets children use microscopes to examine tiny marine creatures, and the aquarium ties into local beach discovery and wildlife programs. It is open daily starting at 9 a.m., though closing times vary by season, and it closes for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. There are no restrooms on site, but public restrooms are available a few blocks south at the Turnaround.
