Ross Park Zoo is a historic zoo tucked into Binghamton's South Mountain, founded in 1875 and recognized as the fifth oldest zoological institution in the country. Kids can wander winding wooded paths past naturalistic habitats holding 34 different species, from familiar favorites to more unusual, imagination-sparking animals. The zoo places a strong emphasis on conservation and education, running outreach programs and Species Survival Plan participation aimed at protecting endangered wildlife.
