This museum, housed in a former church building in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, holds artifacts and documents spanning nearly four centuries of the town's history. Visitors can see textiles, farming equipment, and other objects that illustrate local life across social, religious, military and agricultural contexts. The society runs events throughout the year, including author talks and guided tours of historic landmarks around Portsmouth, as well as a self-guided walking route connecting significant sites from the town's past.
A membership to Portsmouth Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
