About this placeThis museum in a restored mill building in Woonsocket tells the story of French Canadian and other immigrants who worked in the Blackstone River textile mills. Families walk through nine immersive exhibits that recreate a Quebecois farmhouse, a 1930s Triple Decker parlor with a period radio program, and a turn-of-the-century mill town, giving kids a hands-on sense of daily immigrant life, work, and school. Interactive stops include a touch table charting 200 years of the textile city and the newer Flowing Through Time exhibit on the Blackstone River's history. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, veterans and students, and free for children under 10 when with an adult, with free parking available in front of the museum and in the municipal lot across the street. A small shop sells local products including blankets from Woonsocket's last operating textile mill.
A membership to Museum of Work & Culture, Rhode Island Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
