This museum in South St Paul tells the story of Dakota County through exhibits covering everything from its earliest history to modern times. Children can explore The Curiosity Collection, a hands-on exhibit where they play and learn about topics ranging from prehistoric times to the stockyards and rural electrification. The main galleries feature displays on pioneering Black families, agriculture, women's suffrage, World War I, and the region's industrial heritage. Families can visit without an appointment, though calling ahead to discuss research interests is welcomed. The museum also has a public research library for those interested in genealogy or local history.
A membership to Dakota County Historical Society-Lawshe Memorial Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
