Gaston County Museum of Art & History

Ages 3–12
131 W Main St, Dallas, NC 28034, USA

About this place

A museum in the historic town of Dallas featuring art and regional history across three floors of the Hoffman Hotel. Families can walk through permanent and rotating exhibits exploring Gaston County's past and contemporary art, including displays of horse-drawn carriages in a separate building behind the main museum. Children might join the monthly storytime on the first Wednesday, or explore a recreated late 1800s kitchen where they can pretend to prepare meals as families did then. The entire building is wheelchair accessible with an elevator, accessible bathrooms with baby-changing facilities, and a sculpture garden outside. The museum is free to visit and open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm, Saturdays 11am to 4pm, with no reservation needed. Most visits take around 1.5 to 2 hours, and families can bring drinks and eat in the outdoor space.

If you are a member here

A membership to Gaston County Museum of Art & History carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
