Chico History Museum is housed in the beautiful Andrew Carnegie Library in downtown Chico and adjacent to the California State University campus. The Museum has provided the greater Chico community with memorable exhibits since 1986. Since its opening, the Museum has served as a classroom for thousands of area children and a reflective resource for adults seeking knowledge of all things Chico. Chico History Museum hosts exhibits and special events celebrating the distinct heritage of Chico and its sphere of influence. Its feature showcases change throughout the years, offering various topics from the history of Chico through time. Permanent displays include the Chico Chinese Temple, Bidwell Park, the topographic map of Northern California, Mechoopda baskets, and many more. Local historians and enthusiasts offer tours of local historic landmarks, and local authors present their work during the lecture series. Local books, memorabilia, and digital products are available at the Museum Store online or at the Museum. Our Mission is to acquire, conserve, research, and communicate the rich history of Chico for the education and enjoyment of the community.
A membership to Chico History Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
