Chehaw Park & Zoo in Albany is an outdoor zoo and nature park spread across 800 acres of pine forest, home to 234 animals from more than 73 species including cheetahs, black rhinos, black bears, prairie dogs and alligators. Families can walk scenic boardwalks through a cypress swamp to view the animal exhibits, then cool off at the Splash Park or let kids run around one of the largest Play Parks in South Georgia, both included with admission. On the first Friday of each month, a free Cubs Program geared toward 3 and 4 year olds offers a hands-on animal encounter, craft, and story time, and weekend visits often include animal feedings and enrichment activities. Overnight stays are possible too, with RV sites, tent sites, primitive camping, and camper cabins available on the grounds.
