About this place
Bee City Zoo & Honey Bee Farm is a family-owned interactive zoo in Cottageville that grew out of a decades-old honeybee farm. Kids can hand-feed many of the animals and get close to species like tigers, lemurs, giraffes, wallabies, antelope, serval cats, and binturong, plus farmyard favorites such as miniature horses, donkeys, turkeys, and chickens. A dedicated nature center houses South Carolina native reptiles and amphibians, including snakes, turtles, frogs, and baby alligators. Special private encounters let families get up close with baby and ambassador animals, and visitors can buy raw, unfiltered honey made on site. The zoo sits near the Edisto River, about three miles north of Givhans State Park on Highway 61.
