About this placeThe San Diego Museum of Art sits in Balboa Park and holds the region's largest and most-visited art collection, with more than 32,000 works spanning from 3000 BC to today. Families can wander through rotating special exhibitions, such as a centennial showcase of the permanent collection and a rare display of Toulouse-Lautrec lithographs, alongside the museum's historic paintings and sculpture. On the third Saturday of each month, the May S. Marcy Sculpture Garden hosts a free Community Art Workshop described as welcoming to artists of all ages, a good hands-on option for kids. Photography lovers can also visit MOPA@SDMA, a connected center across from the Lily Pond focused on photography and visual learning through exhibitions and film festivals.
A membership to The San Diego Museum of Art carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
