A 281-acre collection of trees and woody plants laid out by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, serving as both a museum and a research institution. Families can walk the grounds on marked paths, join guided tours led by staff members, and participate in seasonal programs. Summer activities include guided walks, hands-on art projects, and nature exploration. The Arboretum runs interactive bug-catching sessions where children use nets and microscopes to observe insects with help from entomologists. A half-mile introductory tour covers the site's history and scientific work, available both online and in person.
A membership to The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
