About this placeSpring River Zoo is a small municipal zoo in Roswell spread across about 34 acres, with a walking route called the Capitan Trail that leads kids past raccoons, badgers, capybaras, bison, elk, longhorn cattle, gray foxes, coyotes, miniature horses and llamas. Further along the trail children can see black bear sisters, coatimundis, bobcats, a bald eagle, ring-tailed lemurs, a beaver, and a reeve's muntjac deer, among other native and exotic animals. At the center of the grounds sits an antique wooden carousel and a miniature train that has run since 1976, though both are currently closed for repairs and improvements. Staff lead free guided walking tours of the zoo every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m., starting at the entrance, and families can request other tour times by email for group visits.
