The Maidu Museum & Historic Site offers a unique cultural haven for families and individuals who want to experience the life ways and culture of the Nisenan Maidu who called this location home for thousands of years. The outside trail wanders through the Historic Site and offers visitors a chance to see the lasting cultural landmarks via hundreds of bedrock mortar holes and deeply carved petroglyphs. The museum houses interactive exhibits, displays and an art gallery showcasing contemporary California Indian art. The museum offers public tours every Saturday at 10am. The Museum Gift Shop offers a wide selection of books about Native Californians, handmade jewelry, minerals, arrowheads, other cultural artifacts and many nature-related items.
A membership to Maidu Museum and Historic Site carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
