Honolulu Zoo

The Honolulu Zoo sits on more than 40 acres inside Kapiolani Regional Park in the heart of Waikiki, and it is organized into themed areas including the African Savanna, Asian and American Tropical Forests, and Pacific Islands. Kids can see animals such as lions, spoonbills, and various amphibians and reptiles while learning about Hawaii's own native species alongside the zoo's global collection. Beyond regular daytime visits, families can join a guided two-hour evening walking tour offered on Saturdays after the zoo closes to the public, where educators explain animal behavior and the zoo's conservation work as some animals wind down for the night and others become active. The zoo also hosts birthday parties and other special events for groups of all kinds.
