About this placeHeart Mountain Interpretive Center is a history museum on the site of a former World War II incarceration camp for Japanese Americans, located off Highway 14A between Cody and Powell, Wyoming. Exhibits trace the story from early Japanese immigration through the wartime forced removal and confinement, including special displays on American identity and on the men who resisted the military draft while imprisoned there. Families can also walk the grounds to see historic landmarks that remain from the camp, such as the root cellar, a barrack, and the hospital complex. Admission is free for children under 10, and the center notes commercial group rates are available by request. It sits about an hour from the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park, making it a possible stop on a longer Wyoming trip.
A membership to Heart Mountain Interpretive Center carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
