About this place

A history museum housed in a restored 1904 railroad depot, displaying artifacts and documents spanning more than 245 years of life on Grosse Ile. Visitors can see collections including early outboard motors, Civil War memorabilia, vintage violins, and items connected to the island's role in shipping, industry and aviation. The society also maintains a customs house decorated in early twentieth-century style, a lighthouse built in 1894, and exhibits about a former naval air station. Open Thursday mornings and Sunday afternoons, with no admission charge.

If you are a member here

A membership to Grosse Ile Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
