A living history museum spread across nearly ten acres in Portsmouth's Puddle Dock neighborhood, made up of restored houses on their original sites, along with period gardens and landscapes. Visitors walk between buildings and encounter costumed interpreters who tell the stories of the people who lived and worked in this neighborhood over more than 350 years, including Indigenous peoples, immigrant families, craftspeople, and workers. The museum holds 25,000 objects, artifacts, documents, and photographs. Guided tours lasting 90 minutes take in four historic homes, and self-guided exploration is also possible. Exhibits cover topics including the American Revolution, a Black family's life in the 1930s and 1940s, and Abenaki culture and traditions.
A membership to Strawbery Banke Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
