Erie Zoo is a community zoo focused on wildlife education and conservation, marking its 100th year of connecting visitors with animals and nature. Kids can spot animals like lions, tigers and monkeys while exploring the grounds, and the zoo also hosts special events such as a seasonal Chinese Lantern Festival. On-site extras add to the fun for families, including a carousel area, a train, three souvenir penny-press machines (51 cents), mini melt ice cream cups near the train and main concession stand ($5.00 cash or $5.50 by card), and a photo booth near the entrance where kids pick an animal theme for a $7.00 set of photo strips. A gift shop sells penny books, bands and keychains to hold souvenir pennies collected during the visit.
