About this placeThe East Tennessee Historical Society operates the Museum of East Tennessee History in downtown Knoxville, right across from the Tennessee Theatre and near other historic sites like Blount Mansion. Kids and families can explore the signature exhibit Voices of the Land, which mixes original artifacts with first-person audio accounts and historic imagery, plus rotating exhibits that change throughout the year. The museum is open seven days a week and offers reduced admission programs, including $2 tickets for SNAP, WIC or TANF families, free entry for military families through Blue Star Museums, and the Penny4Arts program letting kids attend for a penny when with a paying adult. Parking is available through metered street spots near Gay Street and Clinch Avenue, city garages with free evening and weekend parking, and designated handicap spaces out front.
A membership to East Tennessee Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
