This is a history museum with a children's museum section, housed in a restored 1909 building in Yankton. Visitors explore exhibits about local and territorial history across three floors, with a permanent display opening in October 2026 about the city's first century. Outside, several historic structures including a one-room schoolhouse from 1906 and a railroad depot stand on the grounds. Each December the building hosts a decorated Christmas tree display created by local groups.
A membership to Mead Cultural Education Center carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
