About this place

An interactive museum in downtown Newark with hands-on exhibits across science, art, history, and technology. Families can explore science labs on the first floor, watch live glassblowing demonstrations, visit a planetarium called the SciDome, and learn about local industrial heritage. Art workshops run every Tuesday where children work with materials and learn techniques. The museum occupies a full city block including a restored 1882 machine works building. As a Smithsonian Affiliate, members receive discounted access to hundreds of other museums worldwide.

If you are a member here

A membership to The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in these programs.

  • the full ASTC Passport Program list Science centers and science museums. Not valid within 90 miles of here.
  • Time Travelers in Ohio History museums, historical societies and heritage sites
  • the full ROAM list Museums of all kinds, usually at higher membership levels
  • NARM in Ohio Art, history and cultural institutions. Not valid within 15 miles of here.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
