About this placeThis museum sits on Ford Island inside two original WWII hangars still marked by bullet holes from the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor. Families can walk through exhibits of rare vintage warbirds and wartime history, then climb the restored 168-foot Ford Island Control Tower for the Top of the Tower Tour, which gives a bird's-eye view of the attack sites across Oahu. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and there are field trip and education programs offered for various age groups. Since the museum is on an active military base, visitors must park at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and take a free shuttle over, which runs every 15 minutes with the last return trip at 5 p.m. Parking at the Visitor Center costs $7 per day for personal or rented vehicles.
