About this placeNorwood Park Historical Society runs a small local history museum inside the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House, considered Chicago's oldest house. Visitors can walk through rooms of changing exhibits that trace Norwood Park's story from prairie and farmland to a Chicago neighborhood, including a period bedroom exhibit on a 1927 wedding held on the lawn and a display of artifacts dug up from the grounds such as old coins, toys and kitchen items. Docents are on hand during open hours to answer questions about local history, buildings and genealogy, which can make it interesting for older kids curious about how a neighborhood grows and changes over time. The museum is open Saturdays from noon to 4pm or by appointment, with a suggested $5 donation for admission, and school or group field trips can be arranged with several weeks notice.
Good to knowA membership to Norwood Park Historical Society carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
