A free botanical garden at the University of North Carolina that focuses on plants native to the southeastern United States. Visitors can walk through different plant habitats, including a mountain area with a restored cabin where the playwright Paul Green once worked. The garden hosts rotating art exhibits in its gallery space, with works by regional artists displayed every two months. Educational displays in the Pegg Exhibit Hall cover topics like birds, pollinators, and seeds. The garden also periodically features sculpture installations that blend artworks with the landscaped setting.
A membership to North Carolina Botanical Garden carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
