About this placeThis is a fine art museum in the historic town of New Salem, Massachusetts, set in a building that dates back to 1870. It is dedicated to contemporary realist art and features a rotating permanent collection of more than 50 works by contemporary artists, along with special exhibitions such as the finalists from its International Painting Competition. The museum's third floor houses an academy space where visitors can see or take part in workshops and figure drawing sessions led by well known realist painters. It was founded in 2019 by the Barletta and Klein families and is described as the first museum in the country focused exclusively on contemporary realist art.
A membership to New Salem Museum and Academy of Fine Art carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
