Minter Field Air Museum

Minter Field Air Museum in Shafter preserves the history of the World War Two era Minter Army Air Field and Kern County aviation through static aircraft displays and a collection of military artifacts. Kids and parents can see uniforms, a Link Trainer, a Norden Bomb Sight, medals, patches, historical photographs and aviation art tied to the men and women stationed there. The museum also hosts specialty presentations and an annual aircraft and car show, plus outreach programs for schools and groups. It is open Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 2 PM, or by appointment, and is a registered nonprofit run largely by volunteers.
