About this place
Metro Richmond Zoo is a large animal park in Moseley, Virginia, home to around 2,000 animals that kids can view up close, including a chance to hand-feed giraffes. Families can also step into a penguin ambassador habitat for a close encounter with African penguins, and ride the train, skylift, drop tower, and carousel or explore the kid's playland. For older or more adventurous children, the Treetop Zoofari course offers a zipline and adventure park through the trees with an upgraded continuous belay system. The zoo periodically runs limited-time exhibits, such as a prehistoric animal display, included with regular admission, and it takes part in conservation efforts for species like cheetahs, African penguins, and Diana monkeys. Regular hours run from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
