Mesker Park Zoo

Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden spans 45 acres on Evansville's northwest side, with exhibits ranging from the South American rain forest habitat Amazonia to the Children's Enchanted Forest and areas modeled on the hills around Lake Victoria. Kids can pay per token for hands-on extras like penguin feedings (offered several times daily), giraffe feedings, a budgie walkabout, carousel rides, a zoo tram, and seasonal paddleboats. The zoo is also home to a young jaguar named Reba, a baby porcupine, and a newly hatched penguin chick, giving families a reason to check back for new arrivals. Summer admission runs $11 for ages 13 and up, $10 for children 3-12, and free for kids 2 and under, with the zoo open 9am to 4pm. Seasonal events such as Wild Summer Lights, featuring illuminated lantern displays, live music, and food trucks, add evening options beyond the regular daytime visit.
