About this placeBosque Redondo Memorial is a museum and outdoor site in Fort Sumner that tells the history of the Long Walk, when the U.S. Army forced Navajo and Mescalero Apache people onto the Bosque Redondo Indian Reservation from 1863 to 1868. The building itself, designed by Navajo architect David Sloan, is shaped like a hogan and a tepee, and kids can walk an interpretive nature trail with a free QR code audio tour outside. Inside there are exhibits and educational programs covering this period of history, and ranger-guided tours are offered on select Saturday afternoons. The site is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., admission is $7 for adults, and children 16 and younger get in free.
A membership to Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
