About this placeThe Augusta Museum of History is a local history museum, founded in 1937, that traces the story of Augusta and the surrounding Central Savannah River region through permanent galleries covering transportation, railroads, medicine, bottles, and local figures like James Brown. Kids can explore themed exhibits such as Baab's Bottles and the Dyess Medical collection, and the museum runs family programs including Curious Kids, Time Detectives, and Movies and Music at the Museum. Seasonal events like the Holiday Gingerbread Village and the Great Building Showdown add hands-on activities throughout the year. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, and $5 for children ages 6 to 18, with kids under 6 free and members admitted at no charge. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday, closed Monday through Wednesday.
A membership to Augusta Museum of History carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in these programs.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
