About this place

Atlantic Canada's largest art museum, located in downtown Halifax since 1988. The Gallery holds over 19,000 works across permanent and changing exhibitions, with a particular focus on contemporary art from around the world. Families can explore the collections, which range from historical pieces to current work addressing contemporary issues. The building also houses the Maud Lewis House and Gallery, a café, and educational programs in the visual arts. The institution has roots back to 1908, when it began as a repository for the Crown's art collection.

If you are a member here

A membership to Art Gallery of Nova Scotia carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

  • the full NARM list Art, history and cultural institutions. Not valid within 15 miles of here.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
