A multi-gallery art museum with a children's wing called the Pavilion. The main galleries display work from the Midwest, American decorative arts, and international folk traditions, with particularly strong holdings in Mexican and Haitian art. The Pavilion features over 40 hands-on exhibits where children can milk a cow model, drive a tractor through a painting, try digital finger painting, and explore music and culture from around the world. The center also runs workshops in drawing, painting, pottery, jewelry and digital arts for ages three and up. Live music, films and performance events happen throughout the year. Docent-led tours are available by arrangement.
A membership to Waterloo Center for the Arts carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
