The New Orleans African American Museum of Art, Culture, and History (NOAAM) was founded in 1996 under the guidance and extensive support of the City of New Orleans Department of Housing and Neighborhood Development. NOAAM is located in the Tremé section of New Orleans, a neighborhood that was home to the nation’s largest, most prosperous and politically progressive community of black people by the mid-1850s. Currently the museum is operating out of the administrative building located at 1417 Governor Nicholls St, as we work to fundraise and reopen our entire historic campus. Since our grand re-opening in April 2019: We have welcomed over 8,000 guests and community members. Hosted 200 events 6 Exhibitions Over 150 tour groups Completed Phase 1 (stabilization and weatherization) and Phase 2 (security and safety) of the restoration of our historic campus at the end of 2020. Come to experience and learn the NOAAM difference and join us on the journey!
A membership to The New Orleans African American Museum (NOAAM) carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
