About this place

A museum in Balboa Park devoted to model trains and the history of railroading in Southern California. The 27,000 square-foot space holds indoor and outdoor exhibits featuring toy trains and scale models, with both static displays and hands-on opportunities for children to build and work with track. The museum runs STEAM programs designed to develop problem-solving and creative thinking. It is the only accredited model train museum in the country.

If you are a member here

A membership to San Diego Model Railroad Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.

Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
