This aviation museum near Asheboro Regional Airport fills two hangars with military and civilian aircraft, wartime memorabilia, uniforms, weapons, vehicles and artwork spanning WWI to today. Kids can check out a flight simulator, see historic planes like a Piper J-3 once flown by Orville Wright, and browse rotating exhibits that change regularly. A gift shop is on site, and the museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm, with a suggestion to arrive by 4pm to have enough time to look around.
