Museum of Miami, a Smithsonian affiliate, is the premier cultural institution committed to gathering, organizing, preserving, and celebrating Miami’s history as the unique crossroads of the Americas. Founded in 1940, the Museum of Miami is the largest history museum in the State of Florida. Museum of Miami houses four permanent galleries and up to three traveling exhibits, Archives, and Research Center, the South Florida Folklife Center, the Education Center, and City Tours program. Museum of Miami also hosts the annual Miami International Map Fair, the largest map fair in the Western Hemisphere. Formerly known as the Historical Museum of Southern Florida and HistoryMiami Museum, Museum of Miami is the second-oldest cultural institution in South Florida and holds the distinguished honor of being a Smithsonian affiliate. Accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM) in 1979, the Museum of Miami joins the elite twenty-four percent of history museums nationwide to receive this honor.
A membership to Museum of Miami carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
