Mound House is a unique archaeological and historical site on Fort Myers Beach located directly on Estero Bay. Estero Island’s oldest standing structure has recently been restored to its 1921 grandeur and is now open as a cultural and environmental learning center. Experience this one of a kind museum that sits atop a 2,000 year old Calusa Indian Shell Mound. The museum contains new exhibits that feature how the layers of shells beneath the earth’s surface revealed information about the Calusa Indians as well as others that settled on the property. A kayak launch allows access to The Great Calusa Blueway paddling trail. Guided Kayak Eco-Tours and other special programs are offered during the year.
A membership to Mound House carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
