About this placeMound House is a small history museum built on a nearly 3-acre archaeological site where the Calusa people once lived, with six exhibits covering almost 2,000 years of Southwest Florida's cultural and natural history. Kids can join guided kayak tours through the mangrove tunnels and tidal creeks of Estero Bay, where guides point out wading birds, dolphins, manatees, and old Calusa archaeological sites along the way. Tours include hands-on activities like handling replica artifacts and throwing an atlatl, and are described as suitable for all ages. The grounds are open daily from 7am to 6pm, with the museum itself open Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
A membership to Mound House Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
