About this place
Louisiana Purchase Gardens and Zoo is a Monroe zoo where kids can see animals from around the world alongside native Louisiana wildlife, including lions, tigers, bears, zebras, birds, and reptiles. A highlight for families is the boat ride through the zoo's swamp area, which lets visitors spot additional animals along the way. The zoo also hosts seasonal events throughout the year, such as an Eggstravaganza, Red White & Blue celebration, Boo At The Zoo, and Jungle Bells. A gift shop is on site, and families can also look into joining the Louisiana Purchase Zoological Society to support the zoo.
