The Lincoln County Historical Association (LCHA) was founded in 1954 by noted local artist Mildred Burrage. Our mission is to collect, preserve and interpret the history of Lincoln County, Maine, which once extended from Brunswick to Canada. Key to our work is the stewardship of three historic buildings: the 1761 Pownalborough Court House in Dresden, the 1811 Old Jail in Wiscasset, and the 1754 Chapman-Hall House in Damariscotta. Chapman-Hall House was named to honor the two families who resided in the house over a period of 153 years, the Chapman family from 1754 to 1835, and then the Hall family until 1907. This fine example of a Maine house in the Pre-Revolutionary period was built by Nathaniel Chapman in 1754. Nathaniel was a housewright in Ipswich, Massachusetts. At age 51 Nathaniel and his wife Miriam moved to the Damariscotta area (or Nobleboro, as it was known at the time), and began overseeing the building of houses. A membership to Lincoln County Historical Association | Chapman-Hall House carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
