About this placeHidden Lake Forest Preserve is a 390-acre DuPage County park in Downers Grove built around two lakes and a stretch of the East Branch DuPage River, offering families plenty of room to fish, paddle, and picnic. More than two miles of trails wind through the woods and wetlands, making it a good spot for kids to hike, jog, or watch for birds and other wildlife, including the spring peepers heard in the wooded ponds. Anglers can try for bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and other species at Round Meadow Lake, Eagle Lake, or along the river, while canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards are allowed on Round Meadow Lake with a district permit. The preserve has dozens of picnic tables and grassy areas for spreading a blanket, grills and hot-coal containers for cookouts, a reservable 50-person shelter, and accessible restrooms near the main parking lot. Dogs are welcome on leash, and the preserve is open from one hour after sunrise to one hour after sunset.
