About this placeGolden Pond Planetarium and Observatory is a domed theater and stargazing site inside Land Between the Lakes where families watch sky shows on a 40-foot, 360-degree screen with surround sound. Most programs run about 40 minutes, cover topics from astronomy to earth science, and list recommended age ranges for each show, with seasonal laser light shows set to music. After shows, staff present "Tonight's Sky Live," a short look at the actual night sky over the area. The attached Observatory, open select Saturdays weather permitting, lets visitors look through a 16-inch Meade telescope and a sun-safe viewing scope, and in summer it hosts free Star Parties with smaller telescopes from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends.
