A museum in a house built in the 1850s that explores the lives of immigrant communities who settled in southwest Rockford. Six galleries focus on African-American, Hispanic, Irish, Italian, Lithuanian, and Polish families and their contributions to the area. Visitors see historical maps, everyday objects, old photographs, and traditional clothing that show how these groups lived and worked, particularly around Rockford's former waterpower district. The museum sits on a historical campus that also includes the Graham-Ginestra House, a Greek Revival home open to visitors. Sunday tours run from 2 to 4 PM, and weekday visits can be arranged by calling ahead.
A membership to Ethnic Heritage Museum carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
