Built in 1799, Dumbarton House provides a unique view of life in early Washington D.C. Open to the public since 1932, this Federal period estate is the oldest museum in the city, connecting visitors near and far with stories of the people who made D.C., including Joseph Nourse, the first Register of the Treasury. Through the interpretation of its historic site and collections, Dumbarton House promotes the understanding of historic preservation and of the early history of our nation, so that the lives and ideals of early Americans inspire current generations to forge a better future. Timed tickets are required as capacity is limited. Follow us on Facebook @DumbartonHouseMuseum, Instagram @DumbartonHouse, and Twitter @DumbartonHouse.
A membership to Dumbarton House carries reciprocal admission, so the same card is worth free or discounted entry at other places in this program.
Reciprocal programs are built for travel and most exclude places close to the one where you hold your membership, so this is worth the most when you are away from home. How reciprocal memberships work
