Climbing Roots is a bouldering-only climbing gym in South Knoxville, billed as the city's first dedicated bouldering center. Kids and families can drop in for open climbing on walls about 16 feet tall, with beginners getting an orientation on falling safely and gym rules, and climbing shoes available to rent. All ages are welcome, though climbers under 14 need a supervising adult who stays off the pads and phone. Beyond open climbing, the gym runs kids' programs, camps, yoga, and ninja warrior classes, and can host birthday parties by request. Practical extras include lockers, showers, day passes with re-entry, and a lounge area where food is allowed, though strollers and sitting on the crash pads are not permitted.
