Boston Athenaeum is a historic library, museum, and cultural center housed in a twelve-story landmark building near Boston Common. Families can visit the first-floor Norma Jean Calderwood Gallery and art installations with a general admission ticket purchased at the welcome desk, and the site includes a dedicated Children's Library among its collections. A one-hour docent-led tour covering the building's history and holdings is available for small groups, and a one-day membership (around $40) opens up all twelve floors, including a rooftop terrace with city views. The building is open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and closed Sundays.
