Big Island Climbing

Big Island Climbing is Hilo's first indoor bouldering gym, offering ropeless climbing on 14-foot walls across roughly 800 square feet of terrain suited to beginners through advanced climbers. Kids must be at least 5 years old and need climbing shoes, which can be rented for $3, and only liquid chalk is allowed on the walls. Families can settle into the observation area to watch while their climber tackles the routes, and every second Saturday is Keiki Day with free shoe rental for kids. The gym also runs kids' clinics and camps for ages 5 to 12, along with private instruction and group classes for those wanting to build skills.
